Theory Of Change
A theory of change visually presents how change is expected to occur in the context of a particular initiative. It guides the efforts of those involved in the initiative by clearly laying out the responsibilities of each party involved and keeping the end goal in focus at all times. Theories of change are important because they ensure that stakeholders agree on the strategies that will be used to meet their intended goals.
Below is the theory of change for Ohio’s Youth-Led Initiative. When reading a theory of change, it is important to start at the bottom and move upward. Consider the end result and the steps taken to arrive there. As you can see, the Initiative’s long-term goal is to build “healthy, thriving, safe and resilient communities across Ohio.”
